How Facilities Monitoring System works…

The system utilizes a fully digital sensor network. Field interconnects provide a digital bus backbone for the system, using CAT5 cabling and 110 punch down terminals, and include branch disconnect switches and bus activity indicators for easy troubleshooting. The sensors plug in to RJ11 connectors on the field interconnects, which provide 2 to 6 connections to the digital bus.

The sensor bus terminates in a bus converter. The bus converter manages the sensor bus and converts it to a Modbus RS-485 RTU network. Up to 32 sensors can be connected to a single bus converter. The bus converters can operate with sensor networks up to 1000 feet (300 meters) long. The bus converters automatically detect sensors on the network, simplifying installation and maintenance.

Two HMIs are available to display and set up the bus converters and their attached sensors. The panel meter HMI can service 4 bus converters (128 sensors) and provides a Modbus RTU RS-232 interface to your control system. The web server HMI can service 8 bus converters (256 sensors) and has a Modbus TCP/IP interface.

The web server includes a register mapping utility that significantly reduces start-up and commissioning time.
